Although I want to help you save money, I also can’t deny my own addiction to Amazon. I can shop for pretty much anything and two days later, the item shows up on my doorstep. There are so many different items available that you can order almost anything! Horse products, groceries, toilet paper, owl watches – it’s all there. So here are a few ways to save money that you may not have heard about:
1. Sign up for Ebates if you haven’t already!
They give you cash back for your purchases. I’ve used Ebates for more than a year now, and have received several checks from them! They mail you a check for a percentage of your purchase. Most online retailers are on their site, and it is a well-organized website making it clear what percent of cash back you will receive by shopping there! Sign up with my link, and receive a $10 bonus right away!
2. Use Paribus
If you haven’t heard of Paribus, you are missing out on money that . It is a site that tracks the orders in your email inbox and then requests a refund from the retailer if the price drops. I think Amazon currently has a 7 day window for price drops, but you can always try asking. Other retailers (like Kohl’s or Macy’s have longer periods for price matching). Paribus does the work for you – any website that emails an order confirmation will be tracked by Paribus. I would like to note here that I made a new email account simply for ordering things online, because I didn’t like the idea of Paribus (and other applications) having the email that I use for logging into everything and talking with friends and family. That way, I don’t feel weird about letting websites see those emails. I only receive order confirmations and emails from retailers through that email address.
3. Check for Amazon Warehouse Deals
When items are opened and returned or some other slight damage happens to the packaging or product, they are listed on Amazon Warehouse Deals and you can find huge discounts on products that are exactly what you are looking for.
4. Don’t use Amazon for everything!
Make sure you aren’t overpaying by buying on Amazon. I like to check the prices, especially of smaller toiletries, at Target or drugstore.com, or my local stores before buying on Amazon. A lot of the time, the smaller items could be more expensive if you are trying to buy it on Amazon. Just check between sites (or your local stores), and find the lowest price.
5. Try Amazon Prime for Free!
Click this link and try Amazon Prime for free for 30 days. If you like it and want to continue, you don’t have to cancel the Prime membership, but if you don’t think you’ll continue to use it, or it isn’t worth the expense, cancel your free trial after 30 days.
6. Check out the Daily Deals on Amazon.
There are some good deals to be found, but again, I urge you to cross check the prices! And don’t buy something just because it is cheap. Decide if you really need whatever you are looking at!
7. Use Coupons!
Yup Amazon offers coupons just like the grocery store! Check them out here. Simply “clip” the coupons you want to use and they will be applied at checkout.
8. Choose No-Rush Shipping and get a $1 credit toward certain digital items.
I do this often, especially if I don’t need something right away. Then we can rent movies for free with those credits!
9. Trade in items you no longer want.
Amazon offers gift card credit for trading in your items you no longer want, old cell phones, movies, books, games, etc – you can earn Amazon credit for these things. Use that credit to buy something you actually want or need!
10. Try Kindle Unlimited FREE for 30 days for access to free Kindle books.
If you don’t have a Kindle, you can also download the app to a smartphone or tablet, and read books that way!
Amazon can be an easy place to shop and there are great prices on lots of items. Just make sure you check prices to make sure you are getting a good deal.
Take advantage of free one day shipping that is now offered, or get a credit toward a future purchase if you want to wait a little longer for your items.
